Home Manager Featured on Notts TV for Charity Marathon in Memory of Her Mother!
We are thrilled to share that Gemma Wallbanks, our dedicated Home Manager at Acer Court Care Home in Nottingham, recently made an inspiring appearance on Notts TV!
Gemma’s story is truly heartwarming. She participated in the Chester Half Marathon in memory of her late mother and to raise funds for Myeloma UK. Her passion and dedication to this cause have been nothing short of inspiring, doubling her initial fundraising goal and earning the admiration and support of the entire Acer Court community.
In her Notts TV interview, Gemma opened up about her emotional journey and the motivation behind her marathon run. She shared, “The run was more difficult than I thought, but the motivation of other runners kept me going throughout, along with the spirit of my mum.
“The run took 2 hours and 36 minutes to complete and I am really proud to have finished the race and even prouder to raise awareness of Myeloma.”
Reflecting on the experience, Gemma added, “I still can’t believe I’ve completed a marathon, as well as being invited onto live TV to raise awareness for Myeloma UK all in the space of a couple of weeks. My dad is really proud of me as well and told me he could not stop crying during the interview because it was so lovely. I hope more people will continue to donate to this extremely important charity so we can continue to help those who need it.”
