This Easter, Spencer House Care Home in Northampton, part of Avery Healthcare, showed its community spirit with a generous donation to the Paddington Ward at Northampton General Hospital, which cares for young patients.
Staff and family members of residents collected a selection of chocolate eggs, cuddly toys, and colouring books for the young patients, spreading smiles and Easter cheer.
Two residents of Spencer House Care Home, Jill, 85, and Patricia, 92, delivered the seasonal gifts in person.
They were joined by Kelly from the Administration Team, who delighted the children by dressing as the Easter Bunny.
Their visit brought joy to the ward, with the young patients eagerly choosing their own eggs from the colourful selection.
One delighted young patient was thrilled to choose his very own Easter egg. Before the group departed, he shared a cheerful high five and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the ward.
The visit is part of Spencer House Care Home’s ongoing commitment to engaging with the wider Northampton community.
“It’s incredibly special for our residents to have the chance to brighten a child’s day,” said Cheryl Jones, Home Manager at the Avery Healthcare-owned care home. “It brings joy to everyone involved and helps our residents feel part of something bigger.”
Resident Jill added, “It was just lovely seeing the children smile. You could really see how much it meant to them, and honestly, it meant just as much to us.”
Northampton General Hospital Play Specialist Nicola Hughes said, “We want to say a big thank you to everyone at Spencer House Care Home for their much appreciated Easter donation to Paddington Ward. Being in hospital can be a difficult time for children and having a treat like this can make quite a difference to them.”
The residents were “egg-static” to be part of the Easter surprise, enjoying both the outing and the chance to bring cheer to the hospital’s younger patients.
