Celebrating 105 years young in style!

Hinckley House Care Home went the extra mile to make Vera Adam’s 105th birthday truly magical, ensuring the day was full of laughter, love and lots of dancing.

Everyone a had a fantastic time, with Vera getting a special visit from Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Ozzy O’Shea, and Mayoress Jenny O’Shea. Ozzy commented, “It was a pleasure and an honour to meet Vera today. She is an absolutely amazing lady for 105 years of age, and even did the Twist at her Birthday party! Jenny and I had a wonderful time celebrating with Vera”.

Vera has loved dancing from an early age and was sent to a dance school by her parents, so it was no surprise that she danced her birthday afternoon away with two of her favourite performers, Glyn Morley and Rob Wilson. Glyn commented that he had, “A wonderful afternoon celebrating Vera’s birthday with Rob. We both feel very honoured to sing for this lovely lady”.

Paul Botham, Home Manager at Hinckley House, has a great friendship with Vera and was happy to share that “Vera is a very independent and vivacious lady, a lover of life! She is an inspiration to us all”.

At the end of a wonderful day, Vera said, “My birthday was lovely and I really enjoyed the entertainment and receiving my card from the Queen”. She still stands by her secret to a long and happy life, stating “Cups of tea!”, but thought it also wise to add “and fish and chips”.

Vera lives a happy life at Hinckley House Care Home, often going out for meals with friends and enjoying the varied, daily activities programme in the care home.
