Bourn View Care Home has brought festive cheer to children and families across the region through its Community Christmas wish tree, delivering more than 75 donated presents to three local charities.
Launched in partnership with Acorns Children’s Hospice, West Mercia Women’s Aid, and Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid, the initiative began with each charity requesting 10 gifts. However, thanks to overwhelming support from team members, residents, families, and the wider community, Bourn View quickly expanded its efforts. In total, over 75 presents were donated and delivered, ensuring even more children could experience the magic of Christmas.
Within just two days of launching, 50 out of 65 wish tags had already been taken, with requests ranging from princess costumes and dinosaur toys to jigsaw puzzles, sensory toys, and bedroom light projectors. The response was so positive that additional tags were requested to meet demand.
A representative from Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid expressed their gratitude for the donation, saying, “The generosity displayed through this initiative has deeply touched our hearts at BSWA. These gifts represent more than material items; they symbolise hope, care, and a sense of normality in lives often disrupted by trauma. We are profoundly grateful for this act of kindness, which makes a significant difference in the lives of the children we serve.”
For many at Bourn View, the initiative holds deep meaning. With team members and residents who are parents themselves, supporting disadvantaged or poorly children is a cause close to their hearts.
Sarah Knight, Deputy Manager at Bourn View, shared her thoughts on the initiative, “As a home, we feel deeply honoured to support these charities through our wish tree. Each wish is a reminder of the strength of compassion and how it can bring hope and comfort to those who need it most.”
Grace Pritchard, Client Liaison Manager, said, “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our local community, team members, and resident families, who have gone above and beyond to make all these children’s wishes come true and help their Christmas be a little bit brighter.”
Jenna Hughes, Home Manager, “Christmas is truly a magical time for children and their families and helping to bring joy to those in need is truly a pleasure for us at Bourn View.”
This partnership has not only delivered gifts but also created a sense of connection and shared purpose across the community. Bourn View looks forward to continuing this initiative in future years, ensuring that compassion and generosity remain at the heart of its festive celebrations.
