Avery Healthcare raise £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support!

We are incredibly proud to announce that on Friday 27th September, all of our 56 Avery homes, four Hawthorns Retirement Communities and our Group Support Centre fundraised for Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting their own coffee mornings, and together have raised £10,000! Even though we have constantly increased our fundraising efforts for Macmillan (in 2016 we raised over £6,000, 2017 saw us fundraise over £6,500 and last year we dough-nated £7,800), this is the most Avery have ever raised for the charity, as our fundraising total this year has risen by more than £2000 from last year!

Residents helped our culinary teams to bake a variety of cakes and sweet treats, and our homes welcomed their local community, including friends and relatives to have a sociable morning and raise some money for a worthy cause. Acacia Lodge Care Home in Manchester even had the pleasure of inviting Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson to their event.

All of the money raised on the day goes to Macmillan Cancer Support, who ensure that no one has to face cancer alone. Macmillan host a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, which some of our homes also support. Most recently, Deputy Manager Helen Rooke Braved the Shave at Lavender Lodge!

Here are some of the highlights from all our coffee mornings:

Avery raise £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Lisa-Jane said “Macmillan are really grateful for the Avery Group raising such an amazing amount for people living with cancer at their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning day this year. A big thank you for their efforts – with their support more people living with cancer can be sure of ours.”

A huge thank you from all of us at Avery to everyone who baked, ate and supported us to raise so much this year for such a worthy cause. A special congratulations goes to Hawthorns Care Home in Aldridge for raising the most money across all the Avery care homes at their event.
