Avery Healthcare raises £3,207.57 for Dementia UK

Staff and residents at all of the Avery care home across the country were very proud to support the Dementia UK charity this month through their ‘Time for a Cuppa 2017’ events which raised a total of £3,207 for the charity.  Activities within the homes featured many different activities including cake competitions and sales, raffles and tombolas and other fun games such as quizzes.

Dementia UK helps families face dementia through its Admiral Nurses who are specialist registered nurses. The ‘Time for a Cuppa 2017’ campaign will have helped raise vital funds for more Admiral Nurses to support families living with dementia in their local communities and to run their helpline which is open seven days a week, 0800 888 6678.

Sharon Winfield, Avery’s Director of Operations, was extremely pleased with the success of the day. She commented, “Avery supports residents living with dementia in our specialist Memory Care Suites in our homes to help them live as normal a life as possible. Many people are still unaware of the impactful effects for those living with dementia and the families that surround them. We are proud to be supporting this amazing cause to enable Dementia UK to extend their services and support to families affected by dementia”.

Sarah Chambers of Dementia UK was delighted with the donation. “A huge thank you to all residents and staff who took part and helped raise this incredible amount. Your support will help us provide more Admiral Nurses to families who need their specialist dementia support”.
