Alice Court Home Manager Conquers Fear of Heights in 115-Foot Charity Abseil

Company News

Residents and team members at Alice Court Care Home in Eastbourne were full of pride as Home Manager, Michelle Love-Patel, took on a daring challenge in support of International Animal Rescue.

Michelle swapped the safety of solid ground for ropes and harnesses as she abseiled down the 115-foot Peacehaven Cliffs, raising funds for the Uckfield-based charity dedicated to ending animal suffering. So far, she has raised £295 to support the charity’s work.

Michelle shared, “This is such an important cause. I’m thrilled to have taken part in something that not only pushes me out of my comfort zone but also supports vulnerable animals who desperately need our help.”

Despite the sunshine, the strong winds at the cliff top made the descent even more daunting. Michelle, who admitted to having a fear of heights, described stepping back over the edge as “absolutely terrifying.” However, with encouragement from her family and colleagues, including Charlotte Taylor, Deputy Manager at Alice Court, she was given the motivation she needed to complete the descent successfully.

The event demonstrated not only Michelle’s bravery but also the close-knit spirit of the Alice Court community, which rallied behind her efforts.

Reflecting on the experience, Michelle added, “I’m proud to have faced my fear for such a meaningful cause. It’s something I’ll never forget, and I hope it inspires others to take on their own challenges in support of the incredible work International Animal Rescue does every day.”

Michelle abseiled down the Peacehaven Cliffs on Saturday, 27th September.
