Acer Court Home Manager Takes on Chester Half Marathon for Myeloma UK in Tribute to Late Mother

This weekend, the vibrant streets of Chester will witness an inspiring display of dedication and resilience as Gemma Wallbanks, Home Manager at Acer Court Care Home, in Nottingham and part of the Avery Healthcare Group, takes on the Chester Half Marathon.

Running in memory of her late mother, who passed away unexpectedly in October last year, Gemma is raising funds to help Myeloma UK in their cancer research.

Gemma’s journey through this half marathon is not just a physical challenge but a heartfelt tribute to her mother’s enduring spirit and a powerful statement in the fight against cancer.

The Chester Half is one of the UK’s longest established and most highly regarded half marathons in the UK.

Gemma’s commitment to this cause has galvanised the community at Acer Court and beyond. Colleagues, residents, and supporters have rallied behind her with unwavering support during her fundraising campaign.

“Running this half marathon is my way of honouring my mum’s memory and supporting research that can make a difference for others battling Myeloma cancer and I want to thank everyone who has supported me and donated to my GoFundMe page.” Gemma shares.

Her story is a poignant reminder of the strength that can emerge from loss and the collective power of community support in driving meaningful change.

As Gemma crosses the finish line on Sunday 19th May, she will not only be celebrating a personal milestone but also contributing to a future where cancer can be more effectively battled and ultimately conquered.

Gemma has doubled her £100 fundraising goal, with over £250 donations raised so far in only 15 days of creating a GoFundMe page.

You can find Gemma’s GoFundMe page here https://gofund.me/15b6201c, which is still accepting donations.
