If you live locally you may have heard of our neighbouring independent living, retirement home The Hawthorns Clevedon, which is also situated in the town, overlooking the seafront.
Our care home community is vibrant and caring. There is an atmosphere of mutual support that both staff and residents have worked tirelessly to cultivate. The atmosphere at Poets Mews Clevedon also has a lot to do with the careful selection of staff, who play a vital role in ensuring inclusivity through care at our North Somerset care home.
Poets Mews Care Home follows the same successful, community-focused formula, one that has seen our sister homes in Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare earn a reputation for excellence across the southwest region. We take on an individual life story approach to dementia care – to read through some of our stories to gain a more in-depth account of how we operate.
We place a strong emphasis on balance and maintaining a healthy level of well-being. A strong outreach ethos is how we engage with the wider, local community, and you will often see residents out and about around the Clevedon area, as well as exploring the landmarks in beautiful North Somerset.
We also welcome local schools, clubs, and societies through our doors at Poets Mews Care Home; it’s an approach that has put our other homes firmly at the centre of their respective communities and earned Avery Health Investor Residential Care Provider of the Year 2020.

Our well-being programme of activities is designed to keep body and mind in great shape, allowing residents to try new things. have fun and make new acquaintances.
Creating a strong sense of companionship and support is inevitable when there is so much going on, whether it is a simple board game, a film in our fully equipped cinema or a day trip out in our minibus across Somerset or into Bristol. We believe that an active home is a supportive home, as the stimulation of activities and the positive energy of other staff, guests and residents can aid an easy transition into care home life.
That being said, we do understand the importance of peace and quiet too, and you can always find a space to enjoy the daily papers or to sit and relax. It’s entirely up to you how you spend your time at our Clevedon care home.
Companionship and fun is something that is engrained in our day-to-day life within Poets Mews Care Home. We regularly invite community groups into the home, whether it is local volunteers from around Clevedon, scout groups, or local schools and societies. We believe that residents can and should maintain and develop interests and relationships within the wider local community. Many of our residents have similar shared interests and we do our utmost to support these hobbies.
Enjoying our garden together is a hugely popular pastime for our residents, whether that’s participating in the light maintenance and pruning, or simply sitting and enjoying the view. Green-fingered residents pride themselves on keeping the garden in top condition for all to enjoy.

Poets Mews offers a vibrant and supportive community to residents, staff, as well as friends and family. Loved ones are actively encouraged to visit our Clevedon care home and are always made to feel like part of the family when dining with us.
Our dining arrangements ensure that mealtimes are both sociable and nourishing. All of our seasonal dishes are prepared on-site by our chef and his team, with residents’ preferences in mind.
The kitchen team are able to prepare delicious food for residents who may also have specific dietary requirements due to illness, medication or care needs. So, whether you struggle to get a taste for bold flavours, prefer kitchen-classics or have difficulty with swallowing, our ingenious chefs will have you covered.
Our café area proves a popular meeting place for residents and visitors. Upon visiting you’ll notice the pleasant chatter of conversation and laughter among the clinking of china teacups. We also have plenty of tea and freshly baked cakes and biscuits for residents to enjoy between mealtimes if they’re feeling peckish!
