Training Tripple!

Avery’s leading Training and Development department are once again pleased to announce that it has retained their City & Guilds accreditation for its sector-unique Advanced Senior Carers (ASC) Programme for the third straight year! City & Guild’s quality assurers undertook a rigorous inspection of the programme and left no stone unturned in their review. Both ASC students and the Avery Training Team underwent interviews with the inspectors and gave some amazing feedback about the programme. The inspectors overall judgement was that “The level of quality assurance in Avery is outstanding, and appears to have a beneficial impact on retention, job satisfaction for learners, managers, delivery staff and excellent care for clients.”

The ASC Programme leads the way in adjusting the skills mix for the care sector by enabling senior care staff to undertake some of the tasks previously performed by a nurse. With suitable training, the senior carers can support and ease the pressure on the shortage of nurses within the sector while care delivery to a high standard can be maintained.

We are grateful to the trainers who, once again showed commitment to the delivery and detailed feedback, as well as mentors, who play a vital role in supporting the students throughout the five-month programme.

City & Guilds commented on the importance of the mentor’s feedback as this shows the students have transferred their new knowledge into practice which can come in the format of an explanation, demonstration of skills and knowledge or case study. As the sixth cohort completes the programme, we look forward to congratulating another group of successful senior carers.
