Our National Care Awards and Regional GBCA 2018 Shortlisted Finalists

We are delighted to have not one but two shortlisted regional finalists in The National Care Awards 2018! Our two finalists are:

Emilio Pascucci, Chef at Astbury Manor Care Home in Bracknell, in the Care Chef category. Emilio was ecstatic, saying:

“I have worked in care catering for over 10 years and Astbury Manor is by far the best place I have worked. I am so proud to have been nominated as a finalist in these prestigious and highly competitive national awards. The catering team here is second to none. We promote the fusion of fine dining with good health and nutrition. Meal times are a social event and we engage with residents to ensure we create a great dining experience that meets individual tastes and needs. As a team, we are well supported and as such want to go above and beyond expectations. Whilst we hope we win this fabulous award; the team and I are looking forward to a bright future as we will continue to serve culinary experience to our residents.”

Donna Silvester, Housekeeping at Cliftonville Care Home in Northampton, in the Care Housekeeper category. Donna said,

“I am really thrilled to have been nominated in these prestigious national awards where the competition is so great throughout the country. I love working at Cliftonville and helping to enhance the resident’s lives. I have worked here for over six years. It is a fantastic company that really looks after its residents and staff. I wouldn’t dream of working anywhere else. Hearing I was a finalist was an incredibly proud moment for me and very unexpected.”

The National Care Awards is an annual and sector-leading event organised by Caring Times magazine, a management magazine for the social care sector. The Awards were devised to celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, by highlighting excellence and rewarding those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care. All finalists will meet with two independent judges for each category at the Awards’ Judging Day.

Winners of the National Care Awards will be presented with their trophies by actor James Nesbitt at a glittering Gala Night on Friday 30th November at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel. This year Avery is sponsoring the Care Home Manager of the Year category in The National Care Awards too.

We are also incredibly proud of two more finalists in the Great British Care Awards; Sue Ravenhall and Cassandra Keane. Sue, Home Manager at Loxley Park Assisted Living, has been entered for the Home Care Registered Manager Award in the Great British Care Awards for the Yorkshire and Humberside region. Cassandra, a Carer at St Giles Care Home in Birmingham, has been nominated for the Carer category in the Great British Care Awards for the East Midlands. Cassandra commented:

“I am so proud to be a finalist – it really is like a dream come true. I do not see my work as a job. Every day I come to St Giles it feels like I’m visiting family – it is a home from home. I am supported by my colleagues locally here at St Giles and by the wider Avery staff team. Residents are wonderful and we have established great friendships. I am very excited to have been nominated as a finalist.”

Sharon Winfield, Chief Operating Officer for Avery Healthcare commented, “We are thrilled that Emilio, Donna, Sue and Cassandra have been recognised and nominated as being the best in their respective fields and for what they do to support the quality of our resident’s lifestyle. All of them are already winners in our view for getting to these regional finals, and anything else gained on the night will just be icing on the cake.”

From everyone at Avery Healthcare, we wish Cassandra, Sue, Emilio and Donna the very best!
