Acorn Lodge Receives ‘Good’ Rating from Regulator

We are very proud to reveal that our home, Acorn Lodge, has achieved a Good in all categories from our industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC are the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They ensure that health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care.

The comments that residents, relatives and staff made to CQC were very positive. Below are some highlights from the report.

A visiting health care professional told CQC that “I think staff are well trained to carry out their role. Staff will take the time to speak with people when I am come to see them and help me to be able to assist them.”

One member of staff said, “The manager is very knowledgeable and is always willing to listen.”

Dignity and respect are very important to us at Acorn Lodge. Staff told CQC that “This is the person’s home, they have their own routines and we respect that.” A residents remarked that “Staff are very good; they’re polite, hardworking and caring.” Another person said of staff, “They treat me with respect.”

One person told CQC, “I like healthy balanced food, choices are good here.”

We always endeavour to be as friendly and welcoming to everyone, which is also reflected in our report. One relative commented, “You can visit anytime.” Another relative told CQC that they had visited at all different times of the day and was always made welcome by staff. They said, “They [staff] make me very welcome…they always say hello.”

One resident commented, “I have a joke with the staff, they make me laugh.” Another resident said to CQC, “I’m happy here and there is nothing I would change.” Another relative said of our home, “We have had a very positive experience; we would recommend it to anyone.”

Well done and a huge thank you to all the team, who go above and beyond to make Acorn Lodge such a lovely place to live. Read and download the entire CQC report by clicking here.
