Are you looking for fun and friendly residential, respite or dementia care in Sevenoaks, for yourself or an elderly loved one? If so, our Sevenoaks care home, Rivermere, offers a welcoming and sociable community with a solid belief that it’s important to celebrate life. Why not pop into our Sevenoaks care home to meet the team and check out the facilities, or give us a call to find out more about what it’s like to be a member of our wonderful care home community?
Rivermere Care Home has seen a transformation since being taken over by Avery a few years ago, bringing it up to the high-level standards and overarching care philosophy we believe in. This mentality and consistently good service have won us multiple awards and the respect of many within the care sector.
Rivermere is pleasantly situated close to the town of Sevenoaks, directly next to Chipstead Lakes, on the edge of the Kent Weald, and easily accessible from both the M25 and M26. The home itself is surrounded by mature trees and a garden that offers a serene feel and within the home, the staff are dedicated to the holistic well-being of the residents. Our home happily accommodates couples and companions who wish to remain together as they continue their care journey and make new memories side by side.
We realise that moving into a new home can be an emotional step and at Rivermere we treat all our residents with the dignity and respect they deserve. Opportunities are available, allowing residents to keep up with their interests, their connections with the local Sevenoaks community as well as their passions in life.
Life at Rivermere Care Home Sevenoaks is guided by our residents who relish all the activities and events we put on for them as well as pursuing their own interests. This could be:
Minds and bodies are kept active with daily quizzes and crosswords, listening to visiting speakers on a variety of interesting topics, musical exercise, a game of croquet, or some gentle gardening. An active gardening club enjoys growing flowers and vegetables in the raised beds.
Everyone pulls together to make our open days and fetes great successes. Residents happily contribute to the wider community by raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society and local charities. They also appreciate a wide variety of musical entertainment from harp music to jazz and Elvis Presley, particularly enjoying participation in the themed events we put on.
As we have our own minibus, it’s not uncommon to see us out and about in the community, enjoying the local sites or venturing further afield around Kent. We are spoilt for choice in the abundance of nearby castles and gardens, but the seaside, garden centres and the theatre prove popular places to visit.
We encourage friends and families to be as connected as possible, ensuring they are thoroughly woven into life at our home, and we invite them to our regular councils. The more open the communication is, the better the care and attention. Our families play an active part in home life, it’s a real feature of our approach at our Sevenoaks Care Home.
I’m Laurence and I have been the General Manager of Rivermere Care Home since December 2023. As a General Nurse with 46 years of experience, my career has taken me from initial training in South Wales to a 26-year career in the Royal Air Force, where I served as the Trauma and Orthopaedic Specialist Advisor. After my career in the military, I transitioned into private healthcare, eventually becoming a hospital director in South East London.
My move into the care sector was intentional, as my wife and I sought a quieter life in East Sussex, leading to the wonderful opportunity to lead the team at Rivermere Care Home.
