Elvy Receives its Overall ‘Good’ CQC Inspection Report

Elvy Court recently received notice from our industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission that it has received an overall rating of ‘Good’ for its unannounced inspection last summer. This is the culmination of a lot of hard work by all the team at Elvy Court, to turn the home around from its last inspection.

Central to this transformation is the appointment of Silvia Barrett who has led the team marvellously, the CQC noting that she attracted special mention from residents as follows.

“The registered manager is fantastic, I see her every day and would speak to her about anything”

The report continues, “said she was able to carry out her role well because she actually got involved in people’s care, working alongside the staff at times so was confident she knew what was going on in the home.”

Another staff member was quoted as saying, “The registered manager is really good, she is a great manager. It is good that she has worked her way up as she really understands. She always listens and acts”.

Another family member mentioned to the inspector that “The manager does come round, every day”, while another noted that, “I feel the manager is a quality carer”.

A family member said to the CQC inspector, “We see the manager and she always stops for a chat”, and “She is an approachable person”. Another relative told us, “She (the manager) does come round for a chat”, and “She seems to be a good manager, she’s approachable”.

I think there is no doubting the hard work by all the team at Elvy from front line carers to back office support, all of whom have made the home such an improved nursing and care environment.
