Crispin Court Raise £250

Here at Crispin Court Care Home, we were delighted to present a cheque for £250 to the Staffs region of leading sports disability charity Special Olympics. Monies were raised through donations, cocktail sales and raffles at a Brazilian-themed Rio Party to celebrate the Rio Olympic and Para-Olympic games. Our professional kitchen team provided a Brazilian themed buffet and tropical cocktails helped the evening event go with a swing. Entertainment was provided by local Latin dance group, Stafford Salsa, and Brazilian singer, Paulo Pinto. The event was attended by families and friends of our lovely residents, staff and members of the public.

The monies raised by us at Crispin Court, Avery Healthcare, went towards supporting the charity’s 10th annual Sports Hall Event – an indoor competition attended by over 200 athletes from the West Midlands which was held on Saturday, 19th November 2016, at Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke-On-Trent. Lorraine Ford, Crispin Court Home Manager, commented: “We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile local cause. Our residents really enjoyed getting into the spirit of the games too”

Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 5.3 million athletes and Unified Sports partners in nearly 170 countries. Special Olympics Stafford was set by Clive Gibson in 2002 as he saw there was a lack of sporting opportunities in Staffordshire and so started the club to cater for adults and children with conditions such as Autism, Down Syndrome and physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy. Special Olympics Stafford takes place every Saturday morning from 9am.
