Welcome to Our Bristol Care Home
Avonmere Care Home is situated in Downend, South Gloucestershire, close to the Willy Wicket Inn on the northern outskirts of the city of Bristol and within easy reach of the M32, M4 and the M5. The purpose-built building consists of three floors, one of which dedicated to dementia care, and is surrounded by a large landscaped garden full of acers, silver birches and hydrangeas.
Staff at Avonmere are very much geared to addressing the needs of each individual resident, thus ensuring both the physical and emotional well-being necessary to gain fulfilment and a contented outlook. Changing one’s way of life in later years, moving out of a family home can be a stressful business, and every effort will be made to make the transition as painless as it can be and to offer peace of mind to all concerned. We manage our own Facebook and update it regularly so you can see what we are getting up to and connect with loved ones. It’s a very popular feature.
Residents have their own spacious rooms which have double-aspect windows, wet rooms, TVs, telephone points and controlled heating. They are encouraged to bring as many of their personal belongings as they can fit in, and items of their own furniture if they so wish. Ground-floor bedrooms open out on to private gardens and some of those on the first floor on to balconies. There are companion suites as well for couples.
Our retirement home in Bristol is built to a very high specification, is filled with light and furnished in muted and subtle colours. A large glass atrium with cedarwood canopy leads into a communal café area — a convivial meeting place for residents and visitors alike, and on to a games room and conservatory. The ground and first floor have their own dining area, library, lounge and activity space, and on the first floor a stunning balcony, leading out from the lounge and dining area, overlooks the rear gardens. The second floor contains the cinema room with plush armchairs and bar, a health spa with treatments, hairdressers and beauty salon.
If you would like to be shown around this splendid new residential care home in Bristol, please contact the manager, James Culley on 0117 957 9210 and she will be happy to show you around or answer any questions you might have. Come and see for yourself why we are one of the most vibrant care homes in Bristol. Fun and Games
Residents can spend their time just sitting around, but they’d be hard pressed to do that for all the temptations that will be on offer. Activities are be resident-led, and broad in their appeal and includes activities as Tai Chi, Pilates, visits from local schools or nurseries, Scout groups and other community groups, as well as arts and crafts, and gardening.
The garden is not only full of colourful shrubs and trees, gazebos and shady seats, but also raised beds, a greenhouse and a potting shed for use of the residents. Plenty of scope for exercising those green fingers then, and maybe homegrown strawberries and tomatoes for tea in summer?
The minibus will be at the gate ready and waiting to take off for the sites of Bristol and South Gloucestershire or perhaps, on a sunny day, the Weston-super-Mare beach hut, which is shared with our sister care homes in Somerset. There is no lack of interesting places to visit in the area, from stately homes to the pub just across the road!Contact the Home
Food is an Occasion
You are what you eat and at Avonmere, we do our best to make mealtimes as nutritious and appetising as possible. There isn’t a bought biscuit in sight; everything is cooked in our kitchens and is as fresh and flavoursome as we can make it. Each meal will have two to three options to choose from, and we can cater for any special diets you may have. Tea and coffee is available whenever you like as well as healthy snacks as well as a delicious array of freshly baked cakes and biscuits which are very popular with our guests in the cafe. If you’re watching a film in our cinema, you’ll be able to get drinks and popcorn from the bar.
Mealtimes should be pleasurable occasions, so we take great care over our presentation, and always offer a glass of wine or sherry with the main meal of the day and make an extra effort for birthdays and anniversaries. If you fancy a private party with friends and family, we have a private dining room for you to use. Why not come along and sample some of our fare, it’s mostly locally sourced and made with love?Enquire Now
