The historic town of Stamford has been voted one of the best places to live in the UK and we think our Priory Court Care Home is pretty good too. It’s situated on the Priory Road, in a quiet residential area of the town and has been sympathetically built to fit in with the historic local architecture. It overlooks the ruins of St Leonard’s Priory, as shown on the Lincolnshire web page. The A1 is only a minute’s drive away and there are good public transport links to Peterborough and beyond.
We cater for those with dementia and nursing care needs and have en-suite rooms on the ground floor for private residential care. All our bedrooms are of a good size, but we also have some double rooms for couples.
All our care is resident focused and we encourage family involvement. Whether it’s dropping in to our cafe or sitting in the garden with a loved one or volunteering in some respect, you’re always welcome.
For more details or to arrange a look round, our manager Linda Donnellan-Beevers will be pleased to talk to you.
Laughter is the best medicine…
Glancing at our Facebook pages, you might be excused for thinking that life is one long round of parties – judging by the glasses of sherry, Buck’s Fizz and champagne that are being raised! True, we like to celebrate when a celebration’s due, and we take our fun seriously. But we treat everyone with the utmost care and thoughtfulness while making sure they enjoy life to the full and realise their full potential. Life doesn’t stop just because you’ve moved out of your own home.
In the 15 years since it opened Priory Court Care Home in Lincolnshire has established strong ties with local community. We have an especially warm relationship with the Malcolm Sargent Primary School, where residents are always sure of a friendly welcome when they come for school plays and concerts. Community involvement works both ways as sometimes the community comes to us: the volunteer bereavement group, Cruse for example, holds its regular monthly meetings in our building. Our residents regularly hold meetings themselves to decide which excursions they want to go on, what activities they want to do and which charities they want to support. As we have our own minibus we can easily get out and about. These are just a few of the things we’ve been up to:
- Sailing on Rutland Water (strapped in of course!)
- Visiting Stamford Arts Centre
- Taking an excursion in a narrowboat on the Stamford Canal
- Going out to pub lunches
- Going to church
We stay at home sometimes too and keep our minds active with quizzes and fingers nimble by knitting. A screening of good old musical on a Sunday is a treat, and often gets everyone singing along too.

Priory Court Care Home
Just such a lovely vibe to the place. No more expensive than other local homes and far nicer.
Too Many Cooks Spoil the Broth?
Not in our case! Priory Court has three resident chefs who have been with us for several years and they never spoil anything, unless it is the residents. They know by now how to look after everyone and keep them nice and healthy, how to tempt someone who is not wanting to eat and how to take care of any special dietary needs. They might spoil them with all the tasty cakes and pastries that are available for that morning coffee or afternoon tea, but there is always a supply of fresh fruit as well to choose from.
There are three dining rooms, and residents can enjoy private dining with friends and family when those special celebrations turn up. The chefs will spoil you a little then too!
