About Adelaide

Adelaide Care Home, Bexleyheath, Bexley

Adelaide Care Home, is situated just off The Broadway with all its busy local amenities and transport connections, but is set in a secluded part of the town, within stunning re-designed gardens. It is one of the finest Homes in Bexley and its excellent local reputation draws in residents from Welling, Sidcup and Dartford. Avery Healthcare staff are dedicated and compassionate professionals providing personalised care to our community of residents, who can rely on the highest quality of residential, nursing and dementia care. As a team they value and support work throughout the Home to keep residents physically and emotionally engaged; residents care is supported by a wide community of groups, including several local schools, who are fully involved in a varied full-time programme of activities.

At Adelaide Care Home we provide a complete range of care

  • Residential care and companionship
  • Dementia care with compassion
  • Nursing care from highly qualified professionals
  • Short term respite care

Vibrant community at our friendly Home

Adelaide Care Home is set within stunning recently re-designed gardens, following a successful bid for funding from the health based charity, The King’s Fund. The Home invested tens of thousands of pounds in a total redesign of the green areas, installing potting sheds, a greenhouse and a pagoda. There are new sensory areas and bird feeders, which have already attracted countless native birds and some rarely spotted exotic breeds. During the summer the gardens, which have a built-in sound system, are in near constant use, either by the keen resident gardeners, planting out and potting up, or by other residents perhaps not as green fingered but no less enthusiastic about the outdoors.

The Home, situated on West Street in the London Borough of Bexley, is a thriving community where residents play an active role in all aspects of daily life. So it is residents who decide the themes of the regular open garden days and who have have a daily vote on the best pastries and cakes on offer in the reception area, so that chef knows which recipes are most popular and which to bake again.

The Home has established strong ties with local schools and associations who play a valuable role in ensuring residents remain part of the wider community. Students from Bexleyheath Grammar School and Upland Primary School are regular visitors, while the Home has also welcomed volunteers from The Prince’s Trust who have helped out in the garden and redecorated some communal areas.

Some of our activities include:

  • Busy Gardening Club
  • Cookery tasting sessions and home baking courses
  • Lunch trips to local pubs including the Golden Lion, The Volunteer and The Wrong ‘Un
  • Reading and creative sessions with children from local schools
  • Musical themed days in the stunning gardens

Getting out and active in some beautiful locations

Adelaide has its own minibus which regularly takes residents on trips to places of interest all year round, and the full-time Activity Coordinator is always finding new and stimulating places to visit to enrich residents’ lives.

Some of our excursions include:

  • Shopping trips to Bexleyheath Shopping Centre
  • Trips to the stately home Hall Place and Gardens
  • Visits to Danson Park
  • Tours of the Bexley Heritage Trust’s Danson House

Thoughtful design for a thriving community

The Home, built to a high specification and design criteria, ensures that everyone feels part of the community. The bedrooms are light and airy and all have en-suite facilities, whilst the common areas are attractively furnished with comfy chairs and sofas, occasional tables and bookcases. Adelaide Care Home is a warm and homely place with its own special welcome.
