We also encourage trips out - we visit the local bowling club at Horsforth Hall Park every Friday weather permitting.”
Tracey went on to say, “The social benefits to engaging communities are invaluable. We work hard to ensure our recreation and leisure programme keep residents at Cookridge Court mentally active and stimulated, which is as important as general good health. The event will see 5 or 6 magicians from the Leeds Magical Association entertain residents with a show that will combine magic with comedy in a show specifically designed for the elderly.”
Alan Beet of the Leeds Magic Association commented, “We started performing to residents in care homes after a member of my own family went in to a care home. I thought it important homes offered residents a range of interesting activities – magic was something that I could provide. Our show is full of fun and is a magical spectacle, which delights people old and young. We have been invited to perform to care homes across the region and we enjoy it immensely.”
The Leeds Magic Association goes back as far as 1934, it was founded by Walter Geary. In the '50s, '60s and '70s it attracted many of Magic's stars including Paul Daniels, Ali Bongo, Ken Brooke, Johnny Hart and the legendary Fred Kaps.
