About the Vacancy

Hempstalls Hall care home in Newcastle Under Lyme is seeking an Activities Co-ordinator for its luxury residential care home.

Location - Hempstalls Lane, Newcastle Under Lyme

Reports to - Care Home Manager

Salary - Competitive

JOB SUMMARY

To contribute to the pleasant environment of the Home with a particular remit for involving the residents in a wide variety of activities designed to address a wide range of interests and varied limitations on physical and mental agility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organise varied activities within the Home to cater for a variety of interests for small groups and large numbers of residents, including games, parties and entertainment, encouraging relatives and visitors to be involved.

Act accordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.

Contribute fully to team working, and is aware of the care staff routines necessary to provide continuity of service to residents.

Ensure supplies and equipment are stored in a safe and tidy manner.


Arrange trips and excursions with varied destinations and purposes to involve as many residents in activity outside the confines of the Home.

Undertake fundraising activity for the Residents Fund.

Participate as an active member of the Resident’s Committee.

Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health & Safety at Work legislation, fire and safety and evacuation procedures and is aware of the need to provide a safe and healthy environment for residents, particularly with regard to external activities.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge & Qualifications

Demonstrate understanding of the role of social interaction plays in the general well being of people.

Previous involvement in voluntary or community activity and roles.

Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, and COSHH assessments.

Hold or work towards achieving NVQ Level 2 in Support Services in Healthcare.

Demonstrate initiative and imagination.
Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude towards the elderly.
